If you are in the area and love going outdoors, a trip to Yellowstone National Park is a must. Yellowstone Park is indeed a beautiful park where you will feel at one with nature and be awed at how majestic nature can be. During your visit, there are many things that you can do at the park. Here are just a few of the activities at Yellowstone you can do.
First off, Yellowstone National Park has the largest collection of geysers in the whole world! You’ve heard of Old Faithful, so now is your time to finally see it! If you are interested in backcountry camping and hiking, Yellowstone has a designated backcountry campsite system which makes things easier for you. There is, however, a maximum stay of 1 to 3 nights per trip. Campfires are allowed, but must be done in areas with established fire pits.
If you are looking to go horseback riding, Xanterra Parks and Resorts offers horseback riding tours for either one or two hours. They also offer a wagon ride which takes riders to a fun cookout site to enjoy a steak dinner. Advance reservations are required. Please call 307-344-7311 for reservations.
There are a wide range of other activities that you can take part in at Yellowstone though. For example, with more than 1,000 miles of hiking trails, you can go on as many day hikes as you’d like! There are 52 picnic areas located throughout the park, so be sure to bring your food and enjoy lunch in the beautiful atmosphere of the national park. If you enjoy fishing, there are 16 species of fish that you can fish for here at the park. You can bike, go cross country skiing or snowshoeing during the winter, take a guided tour on a snowmobile, take part in guided tours or other ranger-led activities!
