Billings offers some exciting activities to enjoy throughout the city. Another great perk of visiting the area is that are always additional things to do around Billings, Montana. Exploring the surrounding area is a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery that Montana has to offer. One area to consider visiting that is near Billings is Lake Elmo State Park. Read on to learn about the park. Lake Elmo State Park is a favorite area to visit by the locals because the reservoir is actually located within the city limits of Billings making it a perfect getaway from the city but is still easy to reach. The provides an opportunity for family and friends to go swimming, boating, sailboarding during the summertime as well as fishing, birdwatching, and picnic during the other seasons. Simply just taking a stroll and taking in the beauty of the area is a great option you can enjoy year round. Enjoy the 1.4-mile hiking trail as well! If you have a furry pet, feel free to stop by the Dog Park located within the Lake Elmo Park. The area features a 200 square foot fenced in area that even includes a water area for your dog. You’ll find the dog park on the western side of the lake. Dogs must be on a leash at the other areas of the park. It’s important to note that alcohol is not allowed on the grounds of Lake Elmo State Park. Additionally, non-motorized boats are the only that are permitted on the lake. If you have children, enjoy the playground that is available on the grounds and enjoy lunch at one of the picnic tables. Whatever season you happen to visit Lake Elmo, there is always something to do. You can also still tour the FWP Regional Office center that is open on weekdays from 8am-5pm.
